Some things don't fit in a story. They come out shorter, with the line breaks where the breath goes.

Picture Or Story

By Dr. Dan Barton (GRAMPS)

Never Let a DECISION in Time DEFINE your Life.

I heard it from the time I was a child, A phrase I would often repeat. It became a part of the lexicon, it seems, Of nearly everyone that I'd meet. A statement of seven words that seem ensconced without debate. Yet as I ponder the facts of MY life, I am not so sure I ALWAYS relate. "A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS" How could anyone disagree? A picture will freeze the moment, Encapsulating it for all to see! Cameras are there for BIG moments, they capture our BEST and our WORST. From those disappointing times when we blew it, to those proud moments we think we might burst. But, therein lies the problem, that picture will never change. Our lives go in all directions, yet that portrait can't show the range. Oh, it may have captured a phase that we were going through and it may have caught that moment, in a way that words NEVER do! But we are so much greater than a sum of all our parts. You see it's not a POINT in time, but our STORY that impacts hearts! I am NOT saying, "throw out the camera," if you did, your phone would go too. I am just saying, "enhance those pictures" with your STORY that enlarges their view.

Too often a moment of regret or loss has shaped the future of a promising young person. Too many have believed the prediction of a parent who gave birth to a self-fulfilling prophecy.
